The dressing you will put on everything

Bottled ranch is usually made with soybean oil, sugar, and a long list of additives. Making it yourself takes about five minutes and gives you a thicker, fresher result you can adjust to taste. The base is mayonnaise and sour cream, thinned with a little unsweetened almond milk.

Fresh herbs make a real difference here, but dried work in a pinch at a third of the amount. Let the dressing sit in the fridge for an hour before serving so the garlic and onion have time to bloom. It keeps for about a week and doubles as a dip for veggies and wings.

Recipe FAQ

How long does homemade ranch keep?

Stored in an airtight jar in the fridge, it keeps for about a week. Give it a stir before each use since it can separate slightly.

Can I use dried herbs instead of fresh?

Yes. Use about a third of the amount, since dried herbs are more concentrated. Let the dressing sit for an hour so they rehydrate and the flavor develops.
