Creamy Keto Tomato Basil Soup
A smooth, creamy tomato soup made with heavy cream and a modest amount of tomato, so it stays low carb. No added sugar and no flour.
Creamy tomato soup that stays low carb
Canned tomato soup is loaded with added sugar, and most homemade versions lean on flour to thicken. This one skips both. A modest amount of crushed tomato carries the flavor, heavy cream brings the body, and a little parmesan rounds out the edges.
Fresh basil stirred in at the end keeps the taste bright. Serve it with cheese crisps for dipping or a slice of keto bread. If you want to see where a bowl lands in your daily numbers, run it through the keto calculator before you sit down.

Recipe FAQ
Why is canned tomato soup not keto?
Most canned and boxed tomato soups list added sugar near the top of the ingredients and use flour or starch to thicken. This version uses a modest amount of tomato, heavy cream for body, and no added sugar.
Can I make this dairy free?
You can swap the heavy cream for full-fat coconut cream and leave out the parmesan. The flavor shifts a little but it stays rich and low carb.
