Philly Cheesesteak Lettuce Wraps
Savory steak, peppers, and onions smothered in melty provolone, wrapped in crisp lettuce instead of a hoagie roll. A handheld keto take on the Philly classic.
The Philly, minus the hoagie
A cheesesteak is really about the interplay of thin-sliced beef, soft onions and peppers, and gooey cheese. The roll is just a delivery vehicle. Swap it for crisp lettuce leaves and you get all the savory, cheesy goodness with a fresh crunch and none of the carbs.
These come together fast on a weeknight and are easy to scale up for a crowd. Keep the cheese generous and melty.
- Slice the steak as thin as you can
- Cook the onions until sweet and soft
- Melt the cheese right into the beef

Recipe FAQ
What is the best lettuce for wraps?
Butter lettuce and romaine hearts both hold their shape well and stay crisp. Butter lettuce is softer and easier to fold, while romaine gives extra crunch.
Can I use a different cheese?
Absolutely. Provolone is traditional, but white American, mozzarella, or even a keto-friendly cheese sauce all work. Use whatever melts smoothly for that signature gooey finish.
